Ginko-Inspired Chain Maille Charm Tutorial
Step 1: Close 10 small rings. To close rings, clamp the two opposing ends and gently rock them toward each other. You may need to close the ends slightly more than you would think, but if you close it too much, just rock back the other way until the two ends fit snuggly together.
Step 2: Open 1 of the larger rings. To open push the two ends directly apart from each other. Avoid twisting the rings as this will make them deformed when you try to close them.
Step 3: Load the 10 small closed rings onto the larger ring.
Step 4: Close the large ring with the 10 small rings loaded onto it.
Step 5: Open the second large ring and thread it through the 10 rings already loaded. This is a little finicky, but just gently slide the rings onto the second large ring.
Step 6: Close the second large ring.
Step 7: Opening small rings as you go (or you can open them all at once, if you prefer), bind two of the small rings with a small ring.
Step 8: Add a second small ring around the same to rings from Step 7.
Steps 9 thru 16: add two rings to each 2-ring set around the large ring until all are bound, as above.
Step 17 thru 21: Use a single small ring to join two of the two-ring sets together. Repeat this step 4 times to join each of the sets together.
Here are the 5 2-ring bundles all joined to each other with a sing small ring between each set.
Step 22: add a small ring to the large ring as a jump ring to hang your charm.
